Adrift on the Ocean

This hand hooked rug was created using only upcycled yarn and driftwood.  I was inspired to create it when walking along a shore line one day after a storn, that was littered with driftwood.  I thought to myself - I have lived within walking distance of the ocean all my life and have never seen a piece of driftwood in the water, only on the beach.  How does it get there?  Well, of course it comes in on the tides.  It is not as if seagulls drop it there.  But I was intrigued enough to create this piece.

  • This reminds me of the beaches of Northern California, specifically Humboldt county. I feel calmer and cooler already. Beautiful!!
